This privacy and cookie policy (hereafter Policy) explains how Toridori collects and handles your personal information in compliance with applicable laws (see General Terms & Conditions) implemented with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We also process personal information through website cookies and similar technologies; more detailed information can be found in the section Cookie Policy further on this page.

This Policy defines Toridori as Data Controller and you as Data Subject. When we use any third-party services, they are defined as Data Processor. Our website is www.toridori.be (hereafter Website).

Acceptance of This Policy

By using our Website or any of the related products and services (collectively, Services), you acknowledge that you automatically agree to this Policy.

Changes of This Policy

Toridori reserves the right to modify this Policy at anytime without prior notice. The modified version of the Policy takes effect upon its posting on the Website. Upon posting of the modified version of the Policy, Toridori notifies you on the Website (page News). The version of this Policy can be found at the top of this page. By continuing the use of our Website, you automatically agree to the modified version of this Policy.

Data Collection

Toridori collects personal information when you:

  • Contact us
  • Purchase our goods or services
  • Sign up for newsletters

The following personal information is collected:

  • Your name
  • Your contact information (email, phone number)
  • Your address (only upon order placement)
  • Your payment details (account holder name, bank account, card number; only upon order placement)
  • Information about your purchased products or services

The reasons why we collect above personal information are:

  • To answer your inquiries
  • To handle your orders, payments, and shipments of your purchased goods or services
  • To send you notifications about your orders (including payments), shipments (only for purchased goods), or booking (only for workshops)
  • To send newsletters to you (only with your prior consent; see detailed information below)
  • To evaluate product or service performance (see detailed information below)
  • To comply with legal obligations

Via our newsletters, we would like to send you information about our Services that may interest you. We only do so when you specifically consent to receive such communication from us.

In order to evaluate the performance of our Services, we may use anonymous, aggregated data., i.e. processed data by anonymization techniques. The data used for this specific purpose cannot be traced back to a specific individual.

Data Processing

Toridori only processes your personal information where we have a legal basis to do so. Four possible situations exist:

  • You have given us prior consent (e.g. newsletter subscription)
  • Processing is necessary for the completion of our Services (e.g. processing your orders, payments and shipments)
  • Processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations (e.g. fiscal regulations, dispute resolution, judicial investigations)
  • Processing is necessary to prevent, detect and/or respond to unauthorized or unlawful use of our Website (e.g. report abuse to legal authorities)

Data Processing by Third Parties

Toridori works with third-party service providers in order to deliver our Services. Therefore, Toridori shares the following information to them for the necessary processing as stated below:

  • Payment processing
  • Parties involved: Stripe, KBC
  • Information shared: your name, your contact information, your payment details
  • Shipment processing
  • Parties involved: bpost
  • Information shared: your name, your address, your contact information

We also use third-party service providers for website and email hosting (Combell). Part of your personal information is stored on our website server hosted by Combell, which may result in the storage of your data in the locations outside of Belgium. The processing of your data by Combell is restricted to their purpose (i.e. website and email hosting) as described in their privacy policy.

All third-party service providers are bound to follow applicable laws (see General Terms & Conditions) for the processing of personal information; however, their privacy policy is outside of the scope of our Privacy Policy. For detailed information, Toridori refers to their privacy policies.

Toridori will never share your personal information to third parties to be used for their own purposes. However, Toridori may release your personal information when required by the applicable laws (see Data Processing on this page).

Data Protection

Toridori has a responsibility to make all necessary efforts to protect your personal information with a variety of security measures such as data encryption, firewalls, antivirus software, and restricted access to your data.

All your data transmitted through our website (including the payment platform; see below for more detail) is SSL-encrypted. This can be checked by examining the URL banner of the Website; if it starts with HTTPS, your data transaction is secure and encrypted.

Access to the stored data is only allowed to authorized personnel.

Data Retention

Toridori retains your personal information no longer than necessary in order to fulfill the purposes as described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable laws.

  • When you contact us
  • Your name and contact information (used for your contact) will be first retained until we finish handling your request. After that, Toridori keeps this data for another 6 months or until you request to delete it (see Your Rights in this page).
  • When you purchase our goods or services
  • All information necessary to fulfill this purpose (see Data Collection and Data Processing in this page) will be retained at least until we complete delivery of your purchase. In case of return shipment or refund, your data will be retained until the completion of that request. After that, Toridori keeps this data for another 5 years in order to comply with fiscal obligations.
  • When you subscribe to our newsletter
  • Your name and email address will be retained until you decide to unsubscribe.

Note that, in any of above cases, longer retention period beyond stated above is possible when required by applicable laws (e.g. judicial investigations; see Data Processing on this page).

Your Rights

As protected by applicable laws (see What it is on this page), you have the following rights as Data Subject:

  • To request the review of your personal information retained by Toridori
  • To request the correction on your personal information retained by Toridori
  • To request the deletion or limitation of your personal information retained by Toridori
  • To request the detailed information on how and by whom your personal information is processed by Toridori
  • To object to the use of your personal information by Toridori
  • To file a complaint with an oversight authority about the use of your personal information by Toridori

In order to practice this right, please send us an email to info@toridori.be. Toridori will respond to your request within 30 days. In order to protect your privacy and security during this process, we will take all necessary steps to verify your identity before granting access or correcting your personal information.

You can practice this right anytime, and we do not charge any fee for your practice of this right. However, we may refuse your request when your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. Also, we may not approve your request in case it conflicts with our legal obligations (see Data Collection in this page).

Some information you request for limitation or deletion may be necessary for the delivery of our Service to you (e.g. processing your orders; see Data Collection in this page). In this case, we stop any related Services during our re-evaluation of our processing of the information in question. After we come to a conclusion, we will let you know via email in reply and ask you if you wish to proceed with or cancel your request. Upon your confirmation, we will handle your request accordingly.

In case you suspect that Toridori mistreats or misuses your personal information, you can submit a complaint any time to the oversight authority of your residence. In Belgium, the Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD) is in charge of this role.
